Burn planned for White Patch

May 25, 2015

Moreton Bay Regional Council will be undertaking a planned burn at White Patch Esplanade Park, Bribie Island on Tuesday 26 May, subject to weather conditions and final site assessments.

If weather conditions are unsuitable the burn will be pushed back to later in the week.

The size of planned burn is 1 ha.

Start time will be mid-morning with burn completed mid-afternoon. Smoke is likely to affect the White Patch Area. Smoke may be visible from Welsby and Banksia Beach.

Planned burns are used by council to reduce fuel loads to decrease risk to life and property, aid in weed control and land rehabilitation and maintain habitat diversity by burning areas of varying sizes at different times.
