John Farnham and The Seekers coming to Moreton Bay Region in October

August 21, 2014

With careers spanning more than a century collectively, the Australian music legends will headline this once-in-a-lifetime double-concert bill.

Drawing from their timeless catalogue of local and international hits and huge international fame, this special concert is one fans will not want to miss.

The one-off concert has been confirmed as part of Moreton Bay Regional Council’s inaugural DECADES FESTIVAL at the Pine Rivers Park Amphitheatre on October 18.

The festival will relive the best fashion, cars and music of the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s with an entertainment lineup including John Farnham, The Seekers, Tim Campbell, The Hi Boys, Ezra Lee and Pat Capocci.

Tickets will go on sale 11.00am Thursday, August 21 at: www.decadesfestival.com.au

Selling more than 50 million albums, John Farnham and The Seekers stand as two of Australia’s most prolific popular music acts of the modern era, with No. 1 hits and best-selling albums.

John Farnham’s Manager, Glenn Wheatley said it was appropriate that John Farnham and The Seekers would play the Decades Festival because that’s about how long it’s taken to get them together.

“This will be history in the making and one opportunity you won’t want to miss,” Mr Wheatley said.

“They’re both legends of Australian music and to see them together for the first time ever is a real coup for the Moreton Bay Region – I’m excited.”

Moreton Bay Regional Council Mayor, Allan Sutherland said there was no better way to launch the first year of the Decades Festival than by securing two of Australia’s biggest musical acts.

“The Seekers and John Farnham are music royalty and have provided the soundtrack to most Australian’s lives. We are honoured to provide this one-off concert experience right here in the Moreton Bay Region,” Mayor Sutherland said.

The Seekers’ double bass player, Athol Guy, said the group was delighted to finally have the opportunity to headline a concert with John Farnham.

“The Seekers and John both began our careers in the Sixties, and five decades later, we’re all still standing! We’re honoured to include this landmark concert in our ‘Golden Jubilee’ celebration,” Mr Guy said.

Both Farnham and The Seekers are multiple ARIA and Logie Award Winners, who have both been inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame.

All four members of The Seekers and John Farnham have been honoured as Australians of The Year.
