This week officers from Bribie Island were kept busy responding to several traffic crashes that occurred across the division. In some instances those traffic crashes were hit and run incidents, and I’d ask that anyone who witnesses a hit and run traffic crash to take note of the offending vehicles details, and pass them onto the station for follow-up. There has been a marked increase in these offences this year, and police are actively following up on the offenders involved.
Several officers participated in the Combined Emergency Services Expo on Sunday which was well attended. The station’s ATV proved very popular with the kids, and it was great to see such a big turn-out by the local community in support of the Island’s emergency management group.
838 drivers were breath tested this week, and 42 traffic infringement notices issued, mainly for speeding, driving of defective vehicles and failing to wear seatbelts.
