Sandstone Point Carols by Candlelight 2014

December 4, 2014

Excitement is building as the 13th December 2014, the date for the 7th annual Sandstone Point Carols by Candlelight, draws near. Bring your chair or rug and enjoy the fun.

The ever-popular local entertainers The Uke Dukes will provide a warm musical welcome to all on arrival to make sure everyone starts with a smile.

From 5:30pm, a variety of food will be available including a $2 Sausage Sizzle and children and adults alike will be delighted by the free family entertainment on offer including baby animals and a photo opportunity with Mary, Joseph & the Donkey. You may even see a shepherd or a wise man! John Knox will be your host.

Dancers from the Step Up Dance Studio will join Carols MC Jamie Dunn, Agro & Santa to entertain during the 7pm Carols Concert and Santa will be returning at the end of the night to chat with everyone.

A guest appearance by the energetic UQ Taiko Japanese Drumming Team will be sure to create an impression. UQ Taiko is Brisbane’s newest and only not-for-profit community taiko group. ‘Taiko’ in Japanese literally translates to ‘big fat drum’ and it is a traditional form of Japanese art and music that is characterised by powerful beats, dynamic movements, and overflowing energy. UQ Taiko is very much looking forward to sharing this beautiful piece of Japanese culture with everyone at Sandstone Point Carols this year!

It is hoped that the addition of a free bus, provided by Bribie Island Coaches, looping through Sandstone Point will help to ease some of the parking congestion. Patrons will be able to stop the bus anywhere along the route which includes Lachlan Cres, Carpenter Way & Bestmann Road. See www.sandstonepoint.info for more information about the program and bus route.

The event is jointly organized by the Sandstone Point Community Association Inc and the Bribie Island Baptist Church to bring the Sandstone Point community together to foster community spirit and to celebrate this very special time of the year when we remember the birth of Jesus and enjoy time with family and friends.

The support of government, local business and clubs is greatly appreciated. Special thanks goes to the Gold Community Sponsors for their exceptional generosity: Bribie RSL, Century 21 Sandstone Point, Hans Electrical, A & I van Lieshout, Victory Press, Southern Pacific Sands, Paramount Audio, VideoData Staging & Hire, Abraham Multimedia, OurBribie.com & Bribie Car Care.

Organisers are seeking volunteers to join the carols choir and help with the set-up and work during the evening. To volunteer, contact Andy on 0417 629 957.
